We picked Atlantis as an alternative to Disney for our active 4 and 6 year olds, and found it interesting and perfect for them. We ran or were swimming from 8am to 8pm everyday and a great deal to see and do. Now we adults need a vacation! Here are some tips traveling with kids here: 1) Pack a suitcase of pre-wrapped snacks and drinks to save you hundreds of dollars. We even called the airline and found they would wrap our box of bottled water / versus $3.00 per bottle. 2) Take a cab from the airport for $28 (per trip) and ask to stop at a local grocery store to shop for fruits, veggies & pershiables (if close to check-in), 3) Atlantis check-in is at 3:00pm and appears firm so store luggage and ask about the "Hospitality Cave" where you can change into beach/swim wear and rent a locker then grab lunchor swim (Why waste the day?), 4) Order a frig for your room right away, they are free and large, 5) Two blocks away is a small store to replenish foods and an OK Italian Rest. (Zio..., see local TV channel), 6) Don't bring towels in luggage since all provided but keep with you for later in the day since the beach and most pools close at 5:30pm - but you can still use on your own. 7) When service is lacking...at times...use guest service extension (38) which appears to provide follow-up & accountability to the Bahamian sense of time and service. It only took them 1/2 a day to secure the frig but called us 4x. 8) Food is expensive and with kids a hit or miss proposition so we supplemented a light lunch onsite, with breakfast in our room, takeout/delivery (pizza, chinese, etc.)and the Deli (still pricey). Overall a great time and impressive property, while arrive at the airport at least two hours prior to a flight given small place and staff. Good luck.
