Originally I had reservations at Atlantis however Disney changed their itinerary and now I can't get into Atlantis. Therefore now I've made a day room res. at the Raddison Cable beach. Having said all this I'd be very grateful if someone might help me with the followings points.

the Radisson is a pretty nice hotel, not nearly as nice as Atlantis, but a perfectly nice place to spend the day.

about 10 minutes by car, probably a $10 cab ride

not really, athough the drive is interesting.

You can tour the Atlantis hotel and casino, shopping areas for free, or the grounds for $25 per adult. It is well worth it. I am a huge fan, having spent 11 days there last November. It is just a remarkable place. It will not be a lot of trouble for you to do this if you have a car and driver for the day. If you gamble at all you will enjoy the casino at Atlantis much more than the one adjoining the Radisson.

The cab drivers are generally very nice and you should not have any trouble finding one when you disembark. As far as a safe driver, I have yet to encounter one in Nassau. Prepare to be frightened. The cabs we have used have been very clean and perfectly comfortable, although of course not the finest cars in the world. Most of them are not air-conditioned, but you won't mind as the temps will be perfect.

I know that the ferry will take you from the dock to Paradise Island and you can walk to the Atlantis. If it were me, I would suggest you get a room at the Comfort Inn. That way you could spend the day at the Atlantis.
