Hi Rebecca:
I don't know if you're the same Becky that posted on the other Grand Bahama newsgroup message board because I posted a message there yesterday. You can look at that website to read the message (http://wwww.grand-bahama.com).
I'll post some of the same information here anyway, with some added.
Chillingsworth Court is a low-rise property with fifteen condo-like units housed in two 2-story buildings amid gardens overlooking the Princess Ruby Golf Course.
Each air conditioned unit has a kitchen, living room/dinette area with cable TV, one closed bedroom with either 2 double beds or 1 queen size bed and a patio terrace. Maid service is available. All units are carpeted and have telephones.
This place has not been renovated since the early 1990s so I don't know how well maintained it is. Perhaps, someone who has gone recently could post a message here as well.
There's a small outdoor pool.
Freeport International Airport is about 4-5 miles away. A taxi from the airport to Chillingsworth should cost about $10 for two people.
This property is about 1-2 miles from two sister properties - The Bahamas Princess Tower Resort (adjoining the Princess Casino) and The Bahamas Princess Country Club Resort, located across from each other.
I believe that guests staying at Chillingsworth are afforded privileges at the The Bahamas Princess Country Club Resort but you'll have to check on this.
Guests at Chillingsworth have a complimentary shuttle to the International Bazaar three times daily and there's also complimentary shuttle to Xanadu Beach, the closest beach, about 3 miles away.
Xanadu Beach has plenty of watersports available. It's the closest beach to downtown Freeport. The Xanadu Hotel was at its high point in the late 70s when Howard Hughes, the eccentric millionaire resided here in the penthouse suite. It has slipped in popularity and elegance in the last few years. It was recently purchased by entrepreneur Mario Donato (who also owns the Pier 1 Restaurant) and hopefully it will get a well deserved revamping. Guests of the Bahamas Princess properties as well as guests staying at Running Mon Marina are shuttled to this beach daily so at times it gets a bit crowded. The beach is small but wide. If you walk just past the boundary fence of the beach, you'll find local Bahamians selling sodas and fresh conch salad.
The Bahamas Princess Country Club has several restaurants and a nice open air lounge/bar called the John B. that overlooks the pool. The Sunglows, the in-house local band, performs here every night except Tuesday when there's Karaoke and the deejay plays records. There's a small dance floor and the pool grounds are pretty to roam around. There's also a jacuzzi just past the John B.
The Princess Casino is just across the street from the Bahamas Princess Country Club. The Casino has a Las Vegas style revue show that costs about $15-20 and includes two drinks.
The straw market is in the International Bazaar, next to Kaptain Kenny's.
You might like to visit the Perfume Factory.
From the back of the International Bazaar,(which is connected to the Princess Casino by an arcade), you can take the bus to Port Lucaya Marketplace and Marina, the waterfront complex. Port Lucaya has small bars, shops, restaurants and a nice center square with gazebo where another local band, L'il Joe Cartwright, performs nightly except Tuesday. There's line dancing, macarena, dollar wine contests and a fun atmosphere. And the entertainment is free.
Across the street from Port Lucaya is the new Lucayan hotel which will be completing phase 1 for its grand opening on April 1st/99. There are two more phases to go for the final result which will have more rooms added, more restaurants and bars, more pools & a casino, hopefully. Phase 2 is reported to end in September 99 and the final completion of Phase 3 in March of the year 2000.
If you want any more information, feel free to e-mail me at: carriek5@hotmail.com The only problem is that I sometimes take long to write back so be patient with me.
Danny, another frequent traveller who posts on this board and some of the other boards posted a website on the other message board for the person who asked about Chillingsworth. It's the following:
http://www.travelfacts.com/tfacts/htm/hotel/htm/1521RESRight.htm
I also found another website that will prove helpful but just note that photos are always enhanced on websites and in pamphlets.
http://chillingsworth.net/
Regarding golf, you may want to look at the following website:

I hope you'll have a nice time at Chillingsworth & it would be nice if you could post a short report about your likes and dislikes upon your return -- it will help the first timers to Freeport who look at this excellent message board for information.
Best regards
Carrie
