Hello SJ,
Having been to the Nassau Beach Hotel a number of times, the
last time, about 2 weeks ago, I can give you some recent information.
The Nassau Beach (N.B.) is one of the older properties on Cable
Beach. Over the years it was in need of renovation, even tho it
still had its own charm and style. It has one of the best and
largest natural beaches you will find in New Providence Island. To
date the renovations have just about been completed. They are
managed by the same folks who run the Nassau Marriott (formerly the
Carnival Crystal Palace) and they share services and facilities,
which is to say that if you are staying at the N.B., you may use the
facilities at the Nassau Marriott. The N.B.'s room's have been
redone, and now have Cable TV (a big improvement!) Instead of the
old "ice stations" in the hallways as before (kind of quaint), they
now have ice machines. The quality of the food at the Pineapple
Palace has improved greatly. On the down side, because they have an
older water distribution system (as most places do) when taking a
shower, the water temps can change unexpectedly at times and thus
your shower can be like the Dow-Jones of late. But not to sweat, it
happens all over the Carribbean, and very infrequently. The a/c can
be a bit noisy at times, but cools a room very rapidly. Most of the
rooms in all three wings slant to face the water. Cafe Johnny
Canoe's is right next door. Good Food, Good Island Music at night
and at reasonable price (for the Bahamas). There is also a Sbarro's
adjacent to Johnny Canoe's. I was pleasantly surprised at both the
food and the prices there. If need be, you can drop me a line and I
can give you more information about the other things you are
inquiring about.
